Preparti is happy to announce the addition of Southern Exchange at 200 Peachtree to our parti-family! This large, elegant venue was a favorite for our artists to work on because of its characteristic style, and variety in its rooms.
Southern Exchange offers a balance of history and glamour in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. Designed by Philip Shutze, Atlanta's famous classical architect, it was opened in 1927. Stepping through its doors is like a glimpse back to a bygone elegant era with its cream white floors and dazzling chandeliers. It's size is breathtaking as well! With it's four distinct event spaces Southern Exchange is good not only for a glitzy wedding but for corporate events as well. It's location is unbeatable, being within walking distance of hotels and public transport, it not only offers ambience but also convenience!
Our two artist, Rose and Rachael, worked tirelessly to make sure every detail transferred over into our app in order to capture the character of Southern Exchange's
Rose: I enjoyed working on it. It's not often we get to work on like big ballroom-style things. It was a nice to be able to do something on a grand scale- especially in terms of the White Hall. The Grand Loft was fun too since it was more rustic and less ballroom-esque.
The Whitehall Ballroom
Featuring historic marble floors, crystal chandeliers and a mezzanine balcony the Whitehall Ballroom is glamorous and timeless. The space boasts over 18,000 square feet with 30 foot ceilings and can set up to 800 guests, up to 1,075 for cocktail reception, and the wraparound balcony can hold up to 300 guests for cocktail parties as well! This venue offers ample onsite parking in an attached parking deck for convenience.
The Davidson Ballroom
An incredibly versatile, spacious venue that can easily be styled to meet your event’s vision. Equipped with Italian Globe Dome Lights with Edison Bulbs, Amber Down Lights and Vintage Edison Wall Sconces that completely transform the room, The Davison Ballroom offers a contemporary feel and 20,000 square feet of flexible space for guests to dine, dance, and mingle.
Named after the Macy’s department store predecessor, Davison’s, once located at the Southern Exchange site, the space still features original terrazzo floor that represents a nod to the building’s heritage.
Southern Exchange is not only known for it's events and functions, but also as a popular filming space. With Atlanta's up and coming movie economy, The Whitehall ballroom can provide a vast set for time piece films or any movie in need of an impressive location with high ceilings and beautiful lighting.
It is always a challenge to recreate lighting in an elegant manner in computer graphics, especially when it comes to a space like the Whitehall. Our artists worked painstakingly to marry the richness of color with the lighting from the impressive fixtures in the space. To create the lighting perfectly in the space our artists used over 130 different lights in the space, and our computers worked tirelessly for over a week, computing the light schemes on to the geometry.
Rose: It crashed my computer!
Rachael: It took a while that's for sure.
Technological difficulties aside, this venue was a dream to work on. I’ve never seen a place like this! To learn more about Southern Exchange’s plethora of venue space, visit SouthernExchangeATL.com !
